Hello

Hey all

Recent new owner of k-30, 1st DSLR! Am very disappointed with 18-55DA kit lens. I bought the 50-200mm WR lens at the same time and like it, great for outdoors. I still needed something wider, specifically for photographing artwork. Looking at lens info kept leading me this forum. Picked up used 50mm and 28mm manual lenses and could not be more pleased with the quality. Great inexpensive option for manual focus use.

Thanks to all for the great information here!

Jim

Welcome. I don't find the 18-55 so bad. As long as it's in focus, it's sharp enough. Your better results with manual lenses is the perfect chance to grumble about AF focussing on the wrong things .

Agree I need to adjust to how auto focus works, but my problems were photographing art work on a tripod, manually focusing, remote shutter release. Could not get consistent sharpness across a flat plane, tried focal length from 35 or so to 55, everything level, a variety of apertures, etc. the 50-200 was good for this type of work at the 50mm distance, but the old M50 2.0 just blew them both away for sharpness and color. maybe I got a bad 18-55?
