Old and new

In the early seventies my soon to be wife bought a Pentax SP500 with a SMC Tacumar 50 f1.4 lens. When I was thinking about buying a digital SLR about three years ago I had the idea of resurrecting the 50, so buying a K-x was the logical step. The K-x has taken around 16000 pictures, although not many with the Tac. I'm only now getting closer to mastering accurate focus using the Tac, especially wide open. Most of my pictures have been taken with a Sigma 18-105 2.8-4, and a Sigma 18-200. More recently I've added two more 50s - A1.7 and M1.7 - to my collection, and a K5 which I am really enjoying. I still use the K-x because I appreciate its small size (especially with a 50) and ergonomics. In fact I prefer the location of the green button on the K-x to its position on the K5. I have two young grandsons, so I am getting lots of practice accurately focussing my 50s and composing constantly moving subjects. Sometimes I get a decent shot. I also travel quite a bit, so I'm looking forward to trying the K5 and the Sigma 18-200 as a walk around combo in Europe mid year, although I will also take at least one 50 - probably the A1.7. I'm not the only Pentax owner in the family. My daughter has a K10D, a K20D and a lovely FA43. I live in Canberra, Australia.
