Hello from Vietnam

Hi everyone,

I'm from Hanoi, Vietnam.

I'm a K10D user looking for an upgrade since my K10D is not working any more (when the button is pressed the camera just doesn't take photos).

Before Pentax I played with a Canon 350D for a couple of years.

I love using old manual lenses, mostly M42 and Pentax P/K/A primes. I just like the feeling of manually focusing the lenses, setting up the aperture rings and so on.

Hope to learn from and to share with you more and more.

Where in Vietnam are you from?
Just spent a week in Hanoi during Tet, love the city, to bad most things were closed when I was there.
I live in Beijing so I was surprised so much were closed during Chun Jie.
Have you consider the K-30? Might be a good option for you

Binh, that was one of the main things that brought me back to Pentax. As I age my eyes aren't as good as they once were, so I can understand the appeal of autofocus.

Actually the native Hanoi people love the city better when it is quiet and less crowded like that during the Tet holiday. At other times of the year the noises, dusts, and crowds just wipe away the peaceful and elegant feeling that Hanoi is loved for

May be you travellers would love to see a dynamic place but the soul of Hanoi is at the silent side.

Yeah thanks for the advice. I read few comparisons and thought the K30 would be great too. But considering the little difference in prices around (some $20-30), the K5 might be a better choice. Does that make sense?

I see, and I will need autofocus in the future too

Just for now I can enjoy the old lenses with SUPERB supports from Pentax: bright view, in-body SR, auto aperture actuations (for P/K lenses),... The idea of in-body SR is so nice.
