Hi from Oz

Hi all. I have an old SF7, Astron 35-70 and Tamron 90-300 62D lens all 1991 vintage. I am eagerly awaiting the delivery of a K-5 with a DA 18-55mm WR lens. Main reason I have gone for a Pentax again is the compatibility of my old lenses. I am pretty much a novice part time photographer. I am curious as to how much improvement lenses have made since I bought my originals.

Hi Crisis
Like you I've recently mae the jump to digital. If anything, the new lenses focus faster and quieter and more accurately, I find. Enjoy your K-5!
Regards,
Mark

Welcome to the forum. You will note that there are a bunch of active Aussies around ...

There have beeen a few threads around your query. To sum up, a general consensus is that there has been limited improvement in terms of prime lenses. Vintage prime lenses are still well regarded and actively sought. It is a different story with zoom lenses. There have been some major advances in zoom lens technology. Modern zoom lenses are faster, quieter and often have better IQ.

Hope that the comment may help.
