Hi everyone, my name's Gavin and I hail from the rain soaked little island of the United Kingdom (England to be precise). I love photography and am inspired by the beauty of the world, in all its variation and diversity. My father had a Pentax P30n when I small child in the 90's, which I eventually took hold of. This small thing of mechanic precision and wonder was a mystery to me - especially when I couldn't figure out why I had wasted a roll of film (and money) to get pictures that look like I was having an epileptic fit. But practice, research and plenty of patience guided my way, and now I am the proud owner of a K-7.
Manual glass - that's all I use. Auto focus is great for those people that have it .. but I don't really need nor want it. I love the feel of old weighty glass, the buttery smooth focussing of a Takumar, the recognisable rendering of a Zeiss, the vivid colours of a Fujinon. I've expanded my collection a fair bit in the past year, but I haven't grown as a photographer ...
And, alas, that is where I am today; humble and willing to learn how to improve my skill level.
Anyway, enough of my rambling, thanks for reading and I hope to get to know many of the talented and friendly people on this great forum
