Hi there... anyone interested in extreme wide field photography?
I've wanted to try my hand at extreme wide field photography, but the $2000+ cost of a full-frame digital camera and a 12-18mm lens is way out of my price range. After a bit of searching, I coupled a 17-28mm Vivitar lens with a Pentax K1000 film camera. A bit more work completed the setup with a light-weight pistol grip tripod, cable release, and viewfinder diopter (nearsighted). That's about it, and for 10-15% of the cost of a digital unit!
It's been raining so I'm yet to try it out, but a little calculation shows the resulting field-of-view should be approximately 95x70 degrees at 17mm. Plus, there are striking depth and angular perspective effects - more or less opposite to those of a telephoto lens... Anyone else interested in this kind of photography, film or digital? Anything I should know about/ try??? Thanks...
