Hello from the heart of Europe

Well, it's Czech Republic in case you didn't guess. I'm new here and would like to ask a few questions, two in fact:
I have been doing film photography for many years, with Pentax cameras, among others, which I like very much. Now I'm contemplating the purchase of a DSLR, at last. And I'd like to go to the top directly and buy a KIIs. But because it is available here as a body only, I'd like to use my film lenses, particularly the FA 20-30 or even manual lenses like M50/1.4 or M135/2.8, which are very sharp.
My questions are:
1. Is it a good idea to use such lenses with KIIs? It may be temporary if I find that it's better to buy a lens /lenses better suited for this camera.
2. I have a Metz flash with an adapter for Pentax. Are the layout of contacts and the electrical properties in KIIs the same as in Pentax film cameras (like Pentax MZ3), so that I would be able to continue using the flash with KIIs?

Thank you for your opinions.
P.

Welcome to the forum, the lenses should be fine.

But I'm not sure about the flash. I would suggest you post your question as a new thread in the section linked below, where more folk will see it and hopefully give you an answer.

Welcome to the Forums .
Yes your film lenses will work. For the M lenses you will need to go into the camera's menu and allow Aperture ring. I am not sure about the flash as I don't have that one. I do however use an old flash from my film cameras but it is a low voltage flash. I checked the trigger voltage with a DVOM just to make sure.

That's not what the English think.

Please note, I'm Scottish.

It proves again, the point of view makes a huge difference. Not only in photography :-)

Hello and welcome in the forum!

About the flash:
I am using older Metz flashes most of the time.
Please tell which flash model and which adapter you own, I may be able to give you details of its possibilities.
Chances are it will not do pTTL, but otherwise work quite well.
You may need another adapter to save you having to do settings on the flash. But this will depend on your Metz model.

Hello,
thank you all for your welcome notes.

RKKS08: I posted the question about the flash with detailed data to the Pentax Flashes and Lightning Techniues forum. Please be so kind and post your reply there. Thank you.

Not argue for the heart.
But,
Guinness World Records recognises Bernotai, 26 km. north of Vilnius, Lithuania, as the official geographical midpoint of Europe.
( And it lies only 250km south from my home )
