I did it!

Hello All,
after purchasing the Q10 a few months ago and having fun with it I still felt the need for something more substantial. I lurked on the PentaxForums and was trying to decide between a K5 II and the K30. A pro photographer friend was advising me to go the canikon route but my heart was with Pentax.
So today I bought the K30 with the 18-135mm and I'm lusting after the DA 50mm 1.8 that the salesman let me try on. Maybe I should save a bit more and get the DA*55mm as it is also weather sealed.
I hope to be able to develop my skills and someday post some on this site.
Thanks to all the contributors that have helped me make my decision.

I have the same kit (18-135) and now own 28mm F2.8, 50mm F1.4 and 50mm F1.7
LBA already has me in full grip, be careful!

But anyhow, welcome to the forum and the Pentax family, enjoy!

Thanks for the welcome folks.
I went out in Tokyo on my last day here and took some pics at Asakusa. A bit nervous at first carrying the camera around looking like a tourist, definitively more conspicuous than the Q10 but soon relaxed and was snapping away happily.
Wullemaha, How's your experience with the 50mms? I had to resist LBA today as I had to get pressies for my parents in the UK. I'm off back to Melbourne tomorrow.

I know that feeling, but don't you worry about looking like a tourist.
As soon as you start getting lost in the shooting, thats all in your blind spot...

I love the 1.7, got quite used to that one. It is a wonderful lens and cheap to get.
Check out the reviews in this forum.
The 1.4 I just got, need to start using it...

No, unfortunately it is not.
Oldschool SMC-M 50mm ... all manual focus, aperture ring, nothing fancy.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the wonderful world of Pentax! I suggest saving up for the DA* 55. I have one, and it really is worth saving up for. Excellent glass and weather resistance is a major plus.

Welcome aboard, I have the same combination, my second Pentax camera and it's a fantastic piece of equipment, as is the 18-135.

Thanks Wullemaha.
Mamba909, I'll save for the DA*55 while learning to use the K-30 with the 18-135.
