Welcome here and hope you enjoy it here.
The K-r is a fine camera. You may find a lens like the DA 55-300 sharp and versatile (also relatively cheap).

Welcome to the forum, yep just jump right in that's the whole idea.

Lens do vary, zooms sometimes not quite as sharp as some primes, see which focal length you tend to use the most and then maybe try to buy a better lens in that range.

Lots of information here to help with your choice.

Welcome - you are already participating and there are lots of Aussies here. I don't have the 18-135 WR but it seems that some users feel it lacks sharpness as you get towards the 135 mm end. But when you get past f11 you are also getting more noticeable diffraction, so that can be a problem too. Don't give up on that lens. You may have a bad copy. But you might also find that the lens improves as you get a bit more practice. I know some of my lenses "improved" as I got better and I am still not as good as most of them!
