Atlantic Canada - Halifax Newbie

Greetings Pentax friends!

I've recently purchased a Pentax K-30 (black body) from Costco.com with two WR lenses (18-55mm & 50-200mm) in a bundle. I was really torn between the black body and the color blue. Haha! It was a fantastic deal. I've read so many reviews and watched so many YouTube videos that displays how incredibly awesome this WR DSLR truly is. I am very excited to begin my photography journey with the K-30.

I have a Canon G10 and decided to upgrade. I also have a Pentax K-1000 which is in pristine condition. My grandmother left it to me when she passed away. Such a classic staple of a camera. It still works perfectly.

I look forward to learning the ins and outs of my K-30 and will appreciate any tips, thoughts and direction from any of your pros!

Cheers!

Tim

Hello! I'm also in the area (Prospect, on the way to Peggy's Cove). I also have a K30 (and for that matter a K1000, a Spotmatic, and a few old rangefinders). Welcome to PentaxForums.

That's awesome! How long have you had yours? What lenses do you have? I live up off North West Arm Drive! Not far away from you at all! :-)

Good advice! I've seen since crazy videos of what people have done. Mine will only possibly see some drizzle if that! :-)

Pentax products at Hfx. Costco, not Dartmouth!!

Enjoy the K30. I believe Pentax has the best cameras andthat is why I switched from Nikon.
However, I am curious if you purchased your camera kit from on line or at your Halifax store. I've looked, but never seen Pentax slr gear at the Dartmouth store. .

Hey there! I bought it online from Costco.com excellent deal, much better than here in Halifax stores. Henry's in Dartmouth Crossing and Bayers Lake have Pentax cameras and gear. What cameras do you have? :-)

I purchased a K5 with 50-200 mm WR from Carsand-Mosher just before they closed their Chain Lake store.

It's been around 6 months now. Got it for $650 at Henrys in Dartmouth, plus I traded in my K-X. Always liked that KX, but the brighter viewfinder and focus peaking helps as my eyes aren't what they used to me (and I have several manual lenses).

Maybe we should have a Halifax PentaxForums show and tell meeting sometime, somewhere in HRM. I could host out in Prospect.

Here's a shot from my neck of the woods.
