Back to photography.

Hello Pentxians!

Back to photography after 15 years (Olympus) Bought a K30 and love it, though I have a great deal to learn. Thinking about purchasing the 18-135 lens. I live in the city and spend time at the beach, mountains, golf courses, and concerts. I snagged a 170mm - 500mm Sigma APO lens for 200 bucks for long distance ... looking for a good all around lens. Any thoughts? Thanks people.

Welcome back to photography Gilligan, as to the 18-135 lens, it is my walk-around lens and it is WR to match your K30
There are several threads addressing the 18-135 and its usabilty. Do an advanced search on DA 18-135 lens to see what the DA 18-135 can do. Hope this helps..Cliff

Hello and welcome to the Forums.

You did well with the Sigma – they have a good reputation for distance work, and the price seems good. I also have the 18-135, and found it produced very good results on my K-5 on a recent trip to Europe and Turkey, as well as being a good all-round lightweight zoom for more prosaic work. A friend has the K30 and loves it. I'm sure all will give you great service and pleasure for years to come.

Can't add more to the walk around lens advice. The 18-135mm WR is a great lens.
I will just say welcome to the forum and enjoy your K-30. It's a great camera
