Thank you! Is it cheating if you edit with Lightroom? I think i had the white balance on auto and it wasn't brining out the colors on the original RAW.

most were taken with my fifty and I used my 300mm to zoom in on the transamerica through the golden gate bridge. I decided to just bring and use all my lenses

Not at all, it's all part of the photographic process.

Great night images btw.

Very kind, thank you! Using a K-5 and editing RAW files, it's hard to mess up! Even shots with bad exposure, I was able to make look halfway decent.

My composition needs work, no camera can help me there

During the workshop, the instructor mentioned using the camera's highlight indicator, or "blinkies" when viewing our histograms. I brought my manual and I searched just about every page trying to find this feature. I guess all the Canikons have it because I was the only one that couldn't find it.

Kind of felt awkward...

Some amazing photos there. Which workshop did you attend? I would love to attend it.

We got blinkies too. I am at work and don't have camera with me but go into the playback options and look for something like "highlight" warning, etc...we got blinkies.

Thank you! I attended Eric Gould's "Postcard Workshop" which was 1 hr of instruction and 5 hrs of shooting at 5 different locations.

Postcard Workshop - San Francisco Night Photography

The price is actually $95, I can forward a coupon email I got if you're interested.

Mike also does workshops, which would be awesome to take!

You can get some amazing shots driving along the North side of the Golden Gate Bridge up to Hawk Hill. Can't wait to get back up there!

Hmmm thanks Mike, the instructor really made it sound like I was missing something by not having it. I wonder if it would have made a different with a lot of my shots.

I prefer the histogram on review myself or the live histogram in live view, but the blinkies are a good indicator of the hot spots.

Doh! Looking at the metadata of one of my pictures from the night shoot, I had left the exposure compensation to +3.3 when I was testing the settings earlier in the day!!

Did I add unnecessary noise to pictures??

What a noob...
