Cameras are just like everything else, the more capability it has, the harder it is to use. Because it is capable of doing more, you have to be more specific in what you are asking it to do. An F1 car has automatic stability control, just like a Honda Accord, but it takes a different set of skills to drive it.

Given your stated desire to not learn how to use it, you should not have bought a DSLR. No brand of DSLR is going to work like that. The green mode will only work well for "standard" uses: families in bright light taking snapshots. Taking good pictures of the moon requires at least some skill, which you do not want to have. It is not a myriad of changes. You will need to set the aperture, iso and shutterspeed. Three things, and it takes 2 seconds. The learning to do it right takes 4 hours to read a book. It's not a PhD. Accomplishing your photographic objectives requires at least some learning on your part, it isn't hard, nor overly time consuming, but does require some effort. There is nothing else we can do for you.

In this specific case, I'm sure the red spot is just the highlight warning. There is a menu choice to turn it off. Look on page 176 in the manual.

Exactly. If there were a magic button that could make every shot, regardless of subject matter or lighting conditions come out perfect it and the on/off switch would be the only controls on the camera. There wouldn't be any need for the all of the others.
