I just registered here.

My first Pentax was a P3 in 1986 and I shot with it for probably 15 years.
Then I got a P30T back in the 90s off of eBay.
I really liked the aperture priority feature whereas the old P3 only had an "automatic" function that picked everything.
My next camera was another eBay purchase: a K100D.
I liked the fact that all my lenses were compatible!
However, since the K100D is a few years old, I became disappointed when shooting with my friend and his Canon 5D Mark III.
So I didn't wait around and now did my next eBay purchase... a K-5.
Wow, now we're cooking with gas!!!
It's a great camera and I am still on the learning curve. Yes, my old lenses work but some of them are the old K-A system and are not auto focus.
So, since I also like the weather sealed feature, I'll probably get some newer lenses.

I joined here to simply learn how to get the best from my K-5. It's like I have a tiger by the tail!

p.s. Am I missing out not having the K-5 II ???

The K-5 II has the same image quality as the K-5, so I think you're set. Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the forum, in answer to your question probably not, but the grass is always greener in the next field, right.

Save the money from the body to get more lenses, feed your LBA.

I think there's so little difference between the K-5 and K-5ii that it's worth worrying about.
