Hi, my name is Brian and I'm a photography enthusiast.
I mostly shoot reptiles, amphibians, flowers, family and landscapes.
Here are some of my sets on flickr if you want to have a look:

Consider that aside from the newest 20 or so pictures in my photostream evertyhing was uploaded to my photostream in reverse cronological order starting with pictures from 2002 with a 4 MP Fuji compact. So my sets are a better way to view things.
I recently decided to make the DSLR plunge after owning several prosumer dlsr-like Fuji cameras.
I was all set to buy a Nikon D7100 when my brother in law convinced me to go the Pentax route.
This was after months of painstaking research which led me to the Nikon and only a couple of weeks before a big wildlife photography trip where I wanted my new camera.
So after pixel peeping for hours on DPreview comparing the Fuji X-e1, Nikon D7100 and the Pentax K-5ii and reviewing thousands of pictures I bought a Pentax K5ii and am in the process of slowly assembling my lens lineup. (I'll just note that the only reasons I didn't stick with fuji were limited lens selection, no weather proofing and lack of GPS support.).
It's been quite an adjustment to have to switch lenses to get the pictures I want. Especially when I am in a hurry.
This is especially hard when I am hiking and taking pictures of scenery at wide angles and animals and flowers at macro distances and family in between.
Currently I'm looking for a mid-range zoom range to help out in this regard and just can't make up my mind on a starting focal length of 17 or 24 and an ending length of 50 or 70.
I'm trying my best to learn how to be the best photographer I can be with the new tools I have.
From a lens perspective, I ultimately hope to have:
10-20 Sigma wide angle (Own)
17-70 or 17-50 or 24-70 Sigma (currently spending way too much time trying to decide)
50mm DG EX Sigma Macro (Own, We'll see if I keep after I try out the Pentax).
50mm FA Pentax Macro (waiting for this to arrive)
50-150 or 70-200 2.8 sigma for shooting the kids soccer games and wildlife from a distance.
or the cheaper zoom routes of 70-300 or 50-200 sigma lenses.
I look forward to becoming a part of this online community and learning from the vast knowledge base available here.
Here's a few of my favorite shots from my new camera:
Sigma EX DG 50mm Macro
Sigma 10-20mm
Sigma EX DG 50mm Macro
Sigma 70-300m Macro (borrowed)
Tamron 90mm Macro (returned because I couldn't stand the long distance from my subjects).
