Return to Pentax (New X5 owner)

Hello Everyone,

My name is Jack and I live in Dublin (for the moment).
I'm from South Africa originally.

I have finally returned to Pentax.
My first camera was a Pentax P30T.
Excellent Film SLR, great lens.
I always preferred SMC lens colours.
I later also acquired a mint K1000,
for nostalgia sake.
I still use film cameras.
I just can't go off them.

Of course it's getting more and more expensive
to keep the film hobby going, but I'm still at it!
I've owned a couple of digital bridge camera's
by now (non-Pentax, because Pentax was slow
to really embrace digital, initially at least), but I wore them
out and decided to
do some thorough research and look into
Pentax again...

I have settled for an X5 to start with.
I need an all-rounder bridge, which
I can take with me wherever I travel or
go, without the traditional lugging around
of bodies and lenses.
What drew me to the X5 was that the image
quality, but especially the colors reminded
me of the results I used to get with my old'
film cameras.

My camera arrived 10 days ago and so far
so good, although I'm having some small
difficulties with focus settings and that's
why I'm here, to hopefully get advice on that.
However this looks like a good place to hang out
and after all I'm a lifetime Pentax fan, this should
be a bit like coming home.

Jack

Welcome aboard!
Sometimes convenience is the difference between bringing your camera or not. That's what I like about the 18-135 on my K-5, it does 85% of what I want to do, so it's easy to decide. Same with that X-5 - it's better than a P&S and the best camera is the one you have with you.

Thanks a million for the comments and multiple welcomes!

Once I get a handle on my menu settings
and play around with manual options,
will try to get some results up.

Welcome, hope the X5 works out for you and it's just a little "pilot error" in the early days.
