Newby to Pentax and DSLR from OKC!!!

Title says it all. I'm new to DSLR, after long nights and a lot of research I decided to purchase the Pentax K5. I received it this evening. I cant wait to use it.

Welcome aboard! Be sure to read the manual. Get the pdf version as well.

I also have a K5 one year ago. It is a nice camera but if you want to familiar with the advanced functions, you must read the manual carefully and practice the functions. it is worth to spend hours on it.

I found the Magic Lantern K7 book very useful, the menus etc. are pretty much identical.

Remember to update the firmware, too. It's easy if you carefully follow the instructions.

Hey, Wagonburner - do you have experience with older manual film SLRs? You'll like the Pentax Manual and Program modes, they allow very technical shooting.
