New to "serious" photography. Just bought a K-30 a month ago for an upcoming ~6-month trip to Madagascar (graduate school research on carnivores/lemurs/anything that can be caught by camera trap or seen from a line transect). Might drop some serious cash on a DA* 300mm f/4 for photos of lemurs

Welcome to the forums! Ah, Madagascar... Lucky you! One of the places on my "must go to" list.

You're off to a good start with the K30, and the da*300 is hard to beat! Looking forward to seeing the results from your trip, no matter what lenses you end up going with.
