G'day from "DownUnder" !

Greetings All
first time poster, long time Pentax user... first was MX with 50mm 1.2 and sundry other lenses in 1979... I bought this despite having 3 small children and 2 mortgages on the house as a long term investment. ..A friend who at the time had done several years in Antarctica recommended it "...you can use it to push tent pegs through the snow...and it works in -40C temperatures" I never tested either claim...

The MX did stirling service and faithfully captured kids' growing up ..then they (actually "she #1) captured the camera while in high school and it has only just been returned having also served "she #2", and "he #1"as well... in excellent condition I might add! (she #1 bought her own Canon 5D ...but I take comfort that she learned her basic craft on the Pentax :-) ...

Next (2005) was Pentax Optio 750Z which has travelled to many interesting places and despite losing the front cover after an "accident" under a 4wd while recording what turned out to be a sloppy universal joint still takes a credible "snap" !!

So as not to rush these things... after much deliberation a couple of months ago, I finally settled on a Pentax K-5 II. with the 18-55 WR lens... Deliberately chose the K-5II over the K-5 IIs , the latter seemingly a more specialised product. time will tell. Hell, I might win someting and go the whole hog for a 645D

Given daughter and husband (closet Pentax fan) have settled on the Canon 'system' for "work" purposes, all my SMC lenses and his collection also of Pentax lenses /filters have now found their way back to "Moi" ...

I have gained much good info from this site already and am now looking forward to experimenting !!

I suspect this business is a bit like golf... the next bit of U-beaut kit will ensure the perfect shot

Welcome aboard, it's good to know that Pentax kit finds it's way home eventually.

Probably! Allan drives a P38A Range Rover like me - so he won't have any spare money floating around, either.

Good to see you over here, Allan. Khos (Disco_Owner) is here, too.
