cameraleather scam

Dear Forum
Pentax was my first camera and it started a life long joy of photography. Like many of the forum, I contacted Camera Leather as I needed to re-cover my 1953 Linhof. I was asked to send pictures and measurements, which I did. It is now 3months and no leather has arrived. I contacted PayPal, as I thought they would want to protect their reputation but no joy. I will now contact other forums to spread the word. jo

Is this cameraleather.com ? I ordered an MG set from them and it arrived. They were poor communicators and it took a long while but I wouldn't say it's a scam, just an inefficiently run business. Sorry to hear of your bad experience.

Call them, it might be the only way to remind them of your order.

Good idea, Adam. I recovered an MX with their goods, and it was fine. It did take a while to arrive as I remember, but very well made for my needs, too.

Welcome to the Pentax Forums. I hope you did not join here just to flame cameraleather.com. We are much more valuable than that. Lack of communication from them as well as long turn-around time is pretty has become the stuff of legend on the various specialty and vintage camera forums. This is particularly true if there is something special about the order.

I have had good luck with Ak-Asahi, but sadly they no longer offer a Linhof kit.

By all reports, they have a tendency to not answer the phone. I was in discussion with them at one time about coverings for one of my Yashica Lynx rangefinders, but they could not give me a clear answer regarding whether they could actually do it. It generally took 2-3 weeks between e-mails. That being said, I may yet buy a Griptac kit from them for my Zorki 4K.
