Hello from Malaysia

Hello everybody here.

I have been following this forum for quite sometime and have just registered myself as a member here.

I'm from Kuala Lumpur. I have a Pentax K-01 & kit 18-55, and a Sigma 28-80. I'm looking for a wider lens, any suggestion for a good & cheap solution?

Besides Pentax, I also own other mirrorless and film cameras

Thank you.

Welcome aboard!

I believe wide angle lenses can be hard to find cheap. Not many older ones to choose from, and the newer ones are not necessarily cheap - depending on your definition of cheap, of course.

The best option might be to look for a manual fisheye lens, although the way they distort can be a bit challenging.

The Samyang 14mm for Pentax is supposed to be a good and cheap wide lens!

Welcome to the Pentax world.

Hi g_c! I'm in Malaysia right now. I'm also looking for a wide lens for upcoming vacation. For [zoom] ultra wide lens I am looking at Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM -- this is reasonably priced in the local shops and it's easily serviced or replaced when you get a bad copy.

Samyang is generally cheaper than Pentax and Sigma lenses and it also has local distributors in KL/Selangor. Samyang 14mm F2.8 IF ED UMC Aspherical, as suggest above is a good option also but I am looking for 10mm (at least) for an ultrawide rectilinear lens. If you are looking beyond ultra wide and want to venture into fish-eye, Samyang 8mm F3.5 Aspherical IF MC Fish-eye is a great deal also and I am considering this as well in my gear lineup.
