Which DSLR?

Hi everyone,
I'm new to your form but not to Pentax. I started out with my first Spotamatic back in "66". Soon I had a second one plus the "110' model. More recently I moved into the digital age when the 100D came out. The 100D has been a great camera, never a problem. Great pictures.
Since I came from the "35mm" era I learned to do my cropping on the fly as I took pictures. Recently, I have lost some of my mobility due to strokes and other medical complications. Never the less, I haven't lost my desire to shoot when I can.
If you have a moment, I'm looking for suggestions. Based on your experiences, what would you recommend I upgrade to.
I'm not a pro, but I would like a camera of this century.

Welcome! What do you want to take pictures of and what lenses do you have/like?

Recommendations for DSLR?

Hello ABurmast, welcome to the Forum!
Sorry to hear about your medical problems, but sometimes photography can be a cure, of sorts. At least by allowing you to do something you enjoy, that's creative and fun, taking your mind off less pleasant matters.
Right now, the deal of the century in Pentax DSLR's is the K-30. Since the replacement K-50 was introduced, dealers have been practically giving these away and it is a really fine DSLR, many 'advanced' or upgrade features in a 'starter' package and price range. This camera will last you for a good, long time before you need many more features. Last I heard the body and kit lens (DA 18-55mm WR) were around $500 for the package, a steal if ever there was one! That's the near-equilivent of a mid-range (in features and performance) weather-resistant body AND WR lens.
JMO, Good Luck!

Welcome! I agree with Ron on the K-30, but with reduced mobility you should maybe consider getting a longer zoom, eg the 18-135 wr or a 18-250.

Good luck!

The k-30 with 18-135 is a great pair. On a significantly more limited budget, a used KX with 18-55 is 85% as good, and 40% the price. Just make sure you get eneloop batteries for it.

Welcome the forum, if you have a good camera shop somewhere nearby i.e. one that stocks Pentax, go in and see what feels and suits you best.
