K5 owner...finally.

Been playing around with the Sony line of cameras (A57-65) and always wanted to pick up the K5. Got it today but the only lens the shop had was the 55-300...now, I just need a wide angle lens

Welcome to the K5 club. It is a superb camera, so I am sure you will enjoy it.

I also have a 55-300 and it is a really useful outdoors general purpose lens. It is better than a lot of people give it credit for, so be prepared to be impressed by what you get from it.

With regard to WA - if you are heading the prime way I have had a DA14/2.8 (sold) and have a DA15/4 Limited and DA21/3.2 Limited. The DA 15 is the pick of them - it is a stunning little lens. The DA21 is pancake of course, and even smaller - but the results you will get out of the DA15 will mess with your head, they are so good.

Enjoy your Pentax :-)

The alpha lineup is pretty good...even better when you can still great Minolta glass for half the Sony rebadged glass.

There are some good wide angle options out there, so I'm sure you will be happy with what you end up with!
The DA 16-45 f4 (discontinued but you can find it in the used market, not expensive) might be the perfect companion to your tele, for starting out!

The 16-45 is nice - and very good indoors, IMHO. Used you can get it for around $200.

I more often use the 18-135 now, but if I'm at a meeting or something I'll bring the 16-45.

Oh I wish you didn't tell me that!

I find the TAv mode on the K5 a really nice feature to have. Enjoy yours!

I plan to buy K5, please tell me is it good choice for some one who is not to advanced in photography but is willing to learn a lot? Mayby it is safer to choose cheaper K200/K20?

The K5 is a very good camera, and certainly will give you plenty of room to grow in your photography. They are very reasonably priced now. In particular the low light ability - up to ISO6500 is good on the K5
