Howdy

Hey there. I've finally decided to jump into the world of decent cameras. I haven't taken real composed photos since classes in high school (I think we used Pentax K100's) some 16-17 years ago. I try to spend a lot of time outdoors, and lately I've been wishing I could take better quality photos than phones and point & shoots allow. So after researching for a few days, almost biting on Ken Rockwell's advice of a Nikon 3100, I luckily stumbled on the Pentax K-30, which from what I can gather, is a better camera for the money. I'm still awaiting it's arrival, but in the meantime I downloaded the manual to get acquainted with it. It seems my learning curve will be very large. Almost daunting. Hopefully some the basic photography knowledge I gained from high school (that point & shoots do their best to make you forget) will come back to me. Bear with me if I ask stupid questions on occasion, but I am familiar with internet forums so I know how to use the search box. I'll try to keep the redundancy to a minimum.

Cheers,
Brady

Hi Brady welcome to the forum and that's a nice intro mate
Here there is no silly or stupid question. But it's good you know your way around forums and the search function
Have fun with your K-30 when she arrives and I hope some of your high school knowledge is still there!

Cheers,
Yos

Welcome aboard! If we couldn't ask "stupid" questions this would've been a very boring place... And it's amazing how seemingly trivial questions can trigger fruitful discussions!

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum, the photography skills you've already learned are all still valid, just needing a tweak here and they to update yourself.

Enjoy the new camera when she arrives.
