Hello

New to the Pentax Forums and wanted to introduce myself.
I do have a question regarding a prime lense for my K5-II. I currently have the kit lense (18-135mm) and want to get a prime lense and was wondering what everybody's take was on which lense I should get. I pretty much do landscape but I aslo like macro photography so I was looking at the 35mm, 50mm and 100mm lenses.
Thanks!

Welcome to PF and bonjour from France ... enjoy the K-5ii and I could make many a suggestion here, but are you looking at Autofocus or Manual lenses (?) ... also, budget, because people here can help you spend your money very fast ... look at my signature and you'll see my current favorite 35mm, 50mm and 100mm ... plus there's an odd 77mm in there ... Salut, J

Thank you!

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm looking for Auto Focus and my budget is pretty much open (within reason)

Well, there's two good deals the DA 35/2.4 and the the DA 50/1.8 at B&H ... both of these lenses are plastic, but quite good performers that will get you used to primes ... I have the 35 and I think that I am going to get the 50 as well despite the fact that I have a lot of MF 50's ...

As for the 100mm and Macro, I have this which is a fantastic lens, but pricey (worth it!) - SMC Pentax-D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro WR Reviews - D FA Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

I am not big on landscape ... so maybe someone else will be around for advice on that ... hope this helps a bit, J

Oh ... I forgot to mention something else ... all three of these lens will work on a full frame (FF) format ... thus,if and when there's a future Pentax FF, you'll have lens ready to go ... think twice before buying an APS-C dedicated lens, IMHO ... good luck, J
