Thanks mate, yeah i hope to meet people here and explore the Pentax system, there seems to be a plethora of lenses that can work on the K-mount cameras.

Well Pentax and Sony have in body stabilization that is helpful with manual lenses. The K5 had the best of everything at the time. Sometimes I do wish for some Canon features like the top display light button and a swivel screen (40D didn't have that but later models did) and a 1/250 sec flash speed.

yeah i may end up having a foot in both camps, but keen to explore the Pentax world with stacks of different lenses available, i have enquired about a second hand k-5, but really have my eyes set on the K-5 IIs and maybe the 31 f1.8 first up and a few other primes later maybe 15, 21, 40/50 or 55, 70 or 77, and further down the track possibly the 16-50 and 60-250

Yes, that was my attraction too, already having a fair few lenses. With adaptor, you can of course use the older Pentax screw mount lenses too.

Pentax Mount Adapter K reviews - Pentax Camera Accessory Review Database

Generally the genuine Pentax adapter is recommended, from what I've read. I've seen some problems reported with aftermarket ones.

Fotodiox seems to produce good quality stuff, though.

There are M42 to EOS adapters too. You can use any generic ones for Canon. I didn't find those with the focus confirm chip to be accurate.

Yeah, huskies and a malamute/husky mix.
They're enjoying the crisp autumnal weather preview this week.

I have a K-42 converter, but haven't yet purchased an m42 lens! I should get a nice takumar.

They sound like tough dogs that is they can with stand hard weather conditions, they look like they have great personalities,

well i'm just entering the Pentax world, but i will in time look at an adapter and maybe Takumar lenses
