The M50/1.7 is a great lens. Also keep a lookout for the A version which allows you to use Av and TAv mode. They are fairly easy to find and great bargains.

Thanks for the advice. I have a whole list of lenses that I am compiled that I am interested in. The M and the A that you suggested were both on my list, so I'd say this is a good start. Also, I am interested in your macro. I'll send you a PM to work out the details.

So for $45, I picked up the following:

M 50mm f1.7
M 50mm f2
Tou Five Star 75-200mm zoom
Two teleconverters
Soligor reverser ring
Pentax AF 160 flash
Five Star semi fish eye adapter
An entire assortment of filters, most by Hoya.

Needless to say, I am loving the 50mm 1.7. That produces some gorgeous results. I'm quite intrigued by the reverser ring. I've never used one before. I know they are supposed to make macro photography better. I'll play around with it and see what happens.

The Tou zoom lens worried me a bit. It wasn't seating properly in the mount. It wasn't snapping in. I couldn't see any damage to the lens. All the other lenses snapped in just fine.

By the way, I was in Chicago a couple of weeks ago, and I saw a New In the Box Pentax Extension Tube set for $80 at Central Camera. That's a great way to get into macro photography with your 50mm. I almost bought it, but I've already got one.

Cool, thanks. I'll keep my eye out for something like that.

Yes I believe you have been bit by the LBA bug! There is no cure but that's ok because of all those tasty lenses that can be had for little to nothing!
I got a whole bag full and none cost more than $50!!!
Welcome to the fun,
Joel

I most definitely have, Joel. I actually went through the lens reviews on here and spent hours picking out the lenses I want to look for. The 50mm was one of the big ones and I got it easy. I'm quite happy so far.
