Are you new to Pentax DSLRs in general or upgrading from a previous model?

Welcome!

I know there are some e-books around:
PENTAX DSLRs: Download a free sample of the Pentax K-5 e-book before you purchase.
Pentax K-5 e-book, available for all PDF reading devices. (Free sample partial download) - AlettA Photographic

I have no personal experience with any of them, though.

Another good way to learn is to post pictures here on the forum and ask for feedback.

Pentax Inquiries...

Yes, however I've owned a series of Nikon and Canon DSLR'S, though this is my first Pentax.

I suggest you to read the manual first. A lot of advice and answer in it ^^

The Magic Lantern guide for the K7 does a pretty good job with the menu system. Its photography advice is probably redundant if you're a DSLR veteran.
The K5 menu didn't really change, and I don't think the K5II changed from that.
