New to DSLRs

Hi from London.

I've been amatuerishly playing about with photos for a few years now and recently made the decision to step up to a DSLR. A K30 with the 18-55mm WR kit, specifically. I inherited my dad's old MX, so it seemed a reasonable idea to stay in the brand family, as it were. The film camera should let me borrow its 50mm prime lens and I've ordered a Sigma 70-200mm tele with macro function to round out my reach.

I'm looking forward to getting to grips with a real camera, but in the meantime I thought I'd share some of my pre SLR era stuff so you have an idea of the sort of stuff I like to shoot. These were all taken on various cheap cameras, most commonly my old Panasonic FZ20 and, slightly embarrasingly, my phone. Photos Photos by Kroney | Photobucket

Thanks, all. I'm very much looking forward to playing around with the new machine. It turns out the MX is actually an ME, but it did come with a pretty mighty Vivitar flash for the hotshoe.

Hi, it's a f1.7 Pentax. I believe it was the kit lens for the ME.

That's the one. Looks like I got lucky! I was thinking about replacing it with a 52mm filter model for the sake of keeping everything standardised, but I don't think I'll bother now.

It's a great lens for the money ... super value and I like mine a lot and should use it more often ... J
