My First DSLR K20D

Hello Fellow Photographers,

I have been reading the Pentax Forum from the sideline for past few months and today I finally joined after purchasing a Demo Model of Pentax K20D. This is my first DSLR and I am hoping to gain valuable experience in the world of DSLR utilizing this camera. The lense I am using are DA 18-55 and 50 - 300.

I got the camera from a local Photoshop that had purchased it from a Camera Store that went out of business and this was the only Pentax in stock (They carry Canon and Nixon). The price I paid was $110 which makes me think I made out like a bandit since its around $579 new with a 18-55 lense on Amazon.

The camera is in good shape and my hope and expectation is to read and learn from fellow members on this Forum

I was wondering if someone could help me out in fig out how many clicks this camera has had(in regards to its usage prior to my purchase)? Is it on the LCD screen under recordable images?

Please advice.

Regards

Ro

Congrats on the K20 (and great price!). You can use the shuttercount tool here on PF or go to: Check shutter count online - My Shutter Count.com
You could also download a free tool (for Windows) called PhotoMe. Welcome to the forums!

Welcome and congratulations That kit should cover most of your needs for a good while.

A good tip from Paul on the shutter count there.

Enjoy!

Good choice, and a shocking price! I've been using my K20D since 2008. It is a very capable body.

That's one of the best bargains I've ever seen! Nicely done. The only thing I'd even suggest is to consider a weatherproof lens like the 18-135 which can be had for $300-$350 or the WR 18-55 which is less (both used prices). Then you can get out in any weather and not worry.

The K20's a helluva camera - there are lots of users here.

Nice exposure work. You captured the depth and variety in colors in what are fairly monochrome images...
