New Arrival, old pentaxian

First posting. My first SLR was actually a Vivitar, with an m42 mount (yes, I am that old). Presently use a Pentax k10d, which replaced a K100D Super. Might be switching to a K-01, believe it or not; I'm looking for something more bifocal friendly. Might try posting to the K01 contingent to see what they think.

Have you considered a magnifier for your viewfinder? I've seen some posts where they say it helps a lot. I know my k1000 is like looking through a picture window compared to my K100d! Just a thought.
Welcome,
Joel
P.S. looking to get one myself

The K-01 is problematic... I'm using mine extensively at the moment, one of my K-5s is in the shop.. with my A-400 or any long lens, it sure complicates finding your subject. I find it great for flower shots, just lower the camara over the flower and shoot from waste level, no need to bend over..

it's definitely a win some lose some situation. My advice would be splurge for a K-30. Even though it kills the battery, you can have live view on a K-30, you can't have an optical viewfinder on a K-01. On the other hand, if you're shooting manually or macro, the focus peaking on a K-o1 is sweet.

I have the Pentax 1.2 magnifier for the optical viewfinder on my K-5., it's nice, but it doesn't make a huge difference. I really wouldn't know from the viewfinder if I was shooting with my camera or my wives, which doesn't have one. She defintiely doesn't look through my camera and say "wow, I have to have one of those.

Here's the place to ask your K-01 questions..

Almost all the images on this page are K-01 images. It definitely excels at wide angles and out of direct sun..

Awesome for sunsets.
