Hello from Melbourne

Hi, I traded my Yashica J5 for a Pentax Spotmatic back in 1972 and have been a Pentax user ever since. I now have a comprehensive collection of Asahi SLR film cameras dating back to Asahiflex 1. I love the build quality of the latest digital SLRs. My son is urging me to order a K3 as he knows he is in line for my K5.

Hi Rindoon, and welcome to the Forums. There will be a lot of people here interested in your collection, as much as anything else. Let's see photos, when you have a moment or two. Enjoy your time here. I'm sure you'll be able to make a valuable contribution.

A couple of my favourites

Thanks for the welcome RobA_Oz. Here are a couple of my favourite cameras from my collection. The K2DMD on motor drive sounds like a gatling gun but is great camera especially with the F1.2 glass.

Nice! I have the exact same setup with my K2DMD, including the 50mm f/1.2 (actually, mine's an 'A'). The Motor Drive Spotmatic is a rarity, so well done. Was the Voltmeter a standard accessory?

I bought the Spotmatic MD 2nd hand in the USA and the voltmeter and charge pack came with it. I think they were optional accessories originally. If you are interested in my collection I should start at the beginning. Attached is a shot of my 4 Asahiflexs.

Brilliant! You might think about sharing this more widely on the Forums. We have more than a few collectors here. Thanks for posting these.

Asahiflex shutters.

Does anyone know the history of the two shutters used on early Asahiflexs? My Asahiflex 1 has the 5 speed +B shutter ;-1/25, 1/50, 1/100, 1/200, 1/500th as does my IIA & IIB. My Asahiflex 1A however has 1/20, 1/30, 1/40, 1/60, 1/100, 1/200 & 1/500. (7 speed +B).Reading the little literature I can find, the shutter on my Asahiflex1A preceded that which is on my older Asahiflex 1.

Bonjour,

I would suggest that you ask in the "gear p0rn" thread, because there are a lot of knowledgeable members that follow it ... looking forward to seeing the rest of your great collection ... TFS again, salut J
