hello from florida

Having retired i have recently gotten back into photography.
Its a new challenge to be working with a DSLR , but the good side is its forced me to learn how to use the basics in Photoshop.

some of my pics are posted on a wix site, suggestions always appreciated, as this camera has a cranky side to it lol

Hi,

welcome to the forum.
You have some nice photos posted on your site (esp. the nature macros).
Nice "family members" you have (esp. the Dobermann). I had a Rottweiler, from puppy age until he died, 11 years.

I have to say though that I disagree with what is written on your "about me" page (on your site) cosidering the K-30.
It is by no means an entry level DSLR and compared with the EOS 700D, it walks all over it (talking about photo here).
I find the color rendition to be very good and the Auto-WB is also very good.
Now comes something I cannot understand: You really think the K-30 blows out whites?
I find this camera underexposing a bit and excellently preserving the highlights.

blow outs

yes, I do think its the camera. maybe I just got a goofy one. It does some goofy things like the ISO getting stuck at 200 and no being able to change it in ant setting without resetting the camera.
I did consider the sigma lens might be a little high contrast.
The snowy egret on the site was so blown out, i had to use photoshop's highlight/shadow and to its limit to gain any feather detail.
I will try and find a blown out and post it soon
