I am new to the photographic community just started the hobby, which fast became a passion, back in March of this year. I have auditioned a lot of camera systems from Nikon full frame (D700), and several APS-C models D7000, D7100, D300(s) D2Xs and I think the D5100, I also owned Canon 50D, FF 5D & 5D Mark III too many "best glass" lenses for me to not feel too lazy to type them all
In this short period of time I quickly realized that looking the part has nothing to do with being it! I also settled on the fact that I am not a hug fan of taking pictures of anything while it's moving or smaller subjects I am far away from, so I sold or returned all my big
sexy gear and set out to find quality gear that is relatively easy to carry and somewhat inconspicuous.
Right now I am quite happy with my K5 IIs w/kit 18-55mm and my Fujifilm X-E1 with kit 18-55 & recent addition 35 1.4 Admittedly I have an hankering for something that resembled the reach of my previous Canon 24-105 f/4 L USM IS so I maybe pulling the trigger on a 50-300 DA pretty soon. I don't sweat a lens being tack shop across the entire frame because mostly your subject (where you want the eyes looking) is seldom on the periphery anyhow. I want to master compositional theory and light.
Anyhoo, I hope this forum is a great place to learn about the art since most of you probably have already forgotten more about photography than I so far learned. Flickr let me down turning out to be mostly a place to go to whore out your pic's to collect popularity votes while seldom, if any, receive constructive criticism or praise.
Thanks for having me.
