Greetings from Illinois!

My first "real" camera was a Pentax K1000 (I still have it) which I purchased shortly after joining the Air Force back in the mid-80s. My beautiful wife also had a K1000 SE before I met her and I ran across both of them today while searching through a closet. Although we also have digital cameras, I want to get back in to 35mm photography so we bought some Fuji 400 and I joined the forum. I am looking forward to refreshing my skills and learning more.

Shooting Film?

Hello DaleR, Welcome to the Forum!
Hope you enjoy getting back into film, it's great fun and reminds us of the basics of photography. Especially when it's full manual, like the K1000!
If you check the marketplace here, you'll find some good deals on legacy lenses.

Welcome to PF and bonjour from France ... my first was a K1000, do not have that one but found a nice replacement one; it has a roll in it that I need to finish someday ... enjoy the forum and please post us an image or two soon ... Salut, J

Welcome aboard, enjoy the film experience again, some members here have never had that, IMHO it's a must for all to try at least once.

Welcome, I used to teach a high school photography course using K-1000s. But before now, I haven't seen one for years. I gave my last one to my son, and where it ended up is a mystery.

Thanks for the warm welcome! It was very winy here today, what with the tornadoes north and east of us. But I managed to snap some pics with my K1000 using Fuji 400 film. Processing by Walgreens.

Thanks! The wind blew hard all day...fortunately we were spared. Our neighbor lost a Bradford pear tree, and we noticed two other pear trees down in our neighborhood.

Welcome aboard from a fellow Illinois resident.

The rough stuff skirted our area, fortunately. It was a pretty nasty day, though.

Thumbs up on the POW Flag shot

Nice pic, Dale.

Welcome, and enjoy rediscovering film - I just recently went the other direction for the first time, and loving "digital forgiveness" - as in, not paying to develop each exposure while I experiment!
