New K-30. Lost the polarizer window already!

My first DSLR. Love the camera, but taking some night shots tonight with my new K-30 and dropped the lens hood in blackberry bush! Found the hood but polarizer window gone.

Welcome aboard! I hope you're enjoying the K-30 so far

The hood is sort of expensive to replace (Pentax PH-RBC 52mm Lens Hood 38766 B&H Photo Video). Perhaps you can find a cheaper alternative on ebay?

Which lens? I lost the hood on my 18-135 and was unable to find a non-stock replacement...so it was kind of an expensive loss.

Welcome aboard, though!

Thanks Adam. Will get one on eBay at weekend. Should probably get some lens caps too. So far I love the K-30. Was going to buy K-50 but K-30 was on sale and has features I want.

Thanks! It was the 18-55mm WR so I should be able to find cheap one. I lost it near work so will go back in daylight for another look in case I find it. You never know...

Mark that bush by tying something to it like a ribbon or similar and come back during daylight to search for the part.
Nice pic!

Hi. You can spot me by the tape on the lens hood! Mainly see Canon and Nikon owners around. Will look out for other Pentax owners on my travels.

There are a lot of Pentax owners in the Vancouver area it seems.
You guys and gals should organize meet ups like we do here in Los Angeles.
They are a blast.

Just keep using the hood without the window. It still works just as well blocking stray light from above and to the sides. Bright light sources from below aren't very common.

I bought one from China on ebay as my *istD came without one. My K20D came with the Pentax original. No practical difference.

I agree with Deadjohn that it probably does not matter. Even if it does, duct tape is cheap.
