Greetings from Australia

Hi All,

I have just recently found this forum as I trawl the net looking to upgrade from a point and shoot. I live in the beautiful south west of Western Australia (cool and wet at times) and work in the desert interior (hot and dusty most of the time). The Pentax range of tough, compact and weather sealed cameras appears to be very appealing. I enjoy shooting landscapes and am currently leaning toward a k5ii or k5iis, probably with a 18-135 wr lens to get the ball rolling. I would like something that is tough and easy to travel with. I have found this forum to be very helpful in narrowing down my choice. My thanks to you all.

Welcome aboard, sounds like you do need the WR capabilities of Pentax kit at both ends of the climatic range.

Welcome! A K-5ii(s) with a 18-135 should be just the right thing for a dusty climate. That lens is wonderfully versatile, just perfect for travel IMO.

Of course, you'd need a few of those beautiful Limiteds as well, to really get the most out of the K-5ii!
