New to DSLR but not new to macro's

Hey all, I just invested in a Kx with the kit 18-55mm lens, been looking around and bidding on a better lens to start with and today I won on the sharp little Tamron SP 35-80mm f2.8-3.8 lens.

I still have some gear from when my wife and I used to use our Canon Eos 3000, so hopefully some of the gear will be compatible with the Kx, we have a tripod and add on flash, will let ya's know what types when I find them again.

I mainly like to take macro shots, usually just make do with whatever cheap point and shoot we have and try to get the most out of it's macro mode, our current point and shoot is as good as our previous one as it doesn't have as good as sensor for low light and no/very poor image stabilization, so it will be good to start getting out there to get macro's again.

With the Kx I aim to not only do my usual macro's but also get a ok long zoom lens like a Tamron 500 f8/a 70-300 with extension tube etc to be able to get shots of birds of prey in flight/birds on the ground/wetlands.

I would load some of my pics but they are too large to be able to, I'll have to put them through the minimizer program later on and will add them into this post and don't worry it's usually only my 1st posts in my threads that are long like this, my replies are usually kept short.

That Tamron is lovely - it's a real cult lens too - see Tamron Adaptall II SP 35-80 f2.8-3.8. You can get some great macros using just the kit 50-200 and a couple of Raynoxes, check out Raynox Adapter Techniques
