Hi from Ohio!

Hi fellow Pentax users! I came here hoping to find some information on my Optio W20! I will be searching the boards in hopes of answers to my "grainy" issues! Looking forward to learning more from all of you!

Hi Nicole and welcome!

I don't know too much about the Optio W20 other than I think it's a weatherproof/waterproof model as indicated by the W.

Hope to see a photo of your grain problem and we'll help you out.

Hi Nicole! I have a WPi, which is the grandpa of your camera. Same camera, just you have 2 more MPs. Are you planning to take it underwater or just use it topside?

At a guess you are using it on Auto in somewhat lowlight conditions and the camera is raising the ISO rather than slow down the shutter speed or open the aperture for the given meter reading.
This is a reasonable compromise as it is sometimes better to get a sharp unblurred shot with some grain rather than a nicely noiseless blurry shot.
Try switching to program mode or aperture mode and manipulate some of the variables for yourself and see if it makes a difference.
If none of this applies to your situation forget I said anything .
