Just gone and bought a K500

Hi,
Just went out and got myself a steal on a brand new K500 on eBay, cost me £300 and so far I'm pretty impressed with it. It's leaps and bounds ahead of my trusty old Canon 450D in literally every category I can think of, save for being able to see AF points in the viewfinder (why did Pentax remove that?), though the kit lens will probably be replaced with a 17-50 f/2.8 - I shoot a lot in low light and a fast aperture is paramount, not that the kit lens is bad or anything, it's just too slow.
Anyway, I'm starting to ramble... I look forward to contributing to the forums, they seem quite well staffed and friendly, unlike some other photography forums I could name.
Thanks for having me,

-Toby

Really, we must try harder to offend and then we can be more like the others you mention.

It wouldn't pay to be too different, we've got enough problems being the brand underdog as it is already.

Welcome from Iowa! I would love to have a K-500! Have sell some children first! The focus points are an odd thing. personally don't care if I have em or not. And yes the forum is friendly. Proof is that they haven't kicked me out yet!!

Hehehe, thanks for the welcome guys.
I'm yearning for something like an MX-1, but I don't have any children to sell.

Sorry for double post (can't edit posts even though I meet the requirements to do so, which is a bit odd), but:

Having previously used a 450D which does display its AF points in the OVF, I find it rather annoying that they're not there in the K500's otherwise superior viewfinder. I'd probably feel the same way if I were coming from a K100D, but you're not me I suppose.
Anyway, how did we go from welcoming people to the forums to selling children to buy camera gear?

Well, you already said you didn't have any children. I'll loan you one of mine. A 13 year old.

I think it was Mark Twain who said that children should be placed in a barrel & kept there until they turn 13. Then seal the barrel.

Keep your child and follow Mark's advice, I'll find something to sell.

I'm not complaining about mine either! Bought a 50mm f/1.7 MF lens and it's a complete tank in low-light - kicks my 450D to the ground.
The dynamic range is pretty good too without resorting to *shudders* HDR, at least on my copy - do you find that this is the case with yours too?
