Hello from Portugal

Hello all,

I am a German living in Portugal, sharing my time between the two countries.

I have been reading this trove of information since a month and now registered. My K5-II kit with 18-135 mm is ordered and on the way. I am already considering the 50 mm 1.8 as a first add-on -- first signs of the LBA? :-)

I am going to capture some architecture and landscapes, mostly, some few portraits of dogs and wife :-) Therefore the 1.8 lens. I realize in low light winter conditions, sooner or later, I should get a tripod. Is there a rule of thumb when I start shooting from the tripod, depending on the selected aperture/shutter speed? If somebody could possibly refer me to a suitable thread.

Also, if there are any road cyclists here, do you take your DSLR on the road sometimes, in what kind of a backpack?

Thanks!

Welcome aboard, yep that's the first step to a long slippery slope, I can see her (LBA) eyes glinting there in the corner.

Welcome to the forums, and thanks for the intro!

I've been told you don't officially suffer from LBA until you acquire your 5th 50mm. Speaking of which, for architecture and landscapes you will of course need a wide angle lens, and...

For tips on tripods and bags I'd suggest you head over to this thread: Pentax Camera and Field Accessories - PentaxForums.com

Enjoy!
