Hello from Denver!

Hey all,

I'm Adam! I got my start in photography back in high school with a K1000 my grandfather lent me. after a long hiatus in the early 2000s I got back into it with a K-x and K50. I mainly have been a Digital Tech and retoucher in the past, but I'm looking to get back into shooting.

Here's a few shots taken with my old K-x last summer. The Helios I was shooting with had some issues with false focus reporting. so some bits aren't as sharp as I'd wished they had been.

Let me know what you think

No Retouch on these, just some exposure/color enhancement in Capture One & Photoshop

Welcome to the forum, nice shots, soft but would prefer a little more DOF if possible.

Welcome aboard! Very nice shots. The shallow depth of field can work well for art pictures, I think, and I like the lighting and colours very much.

Hope you'll share more of your work over in the photo sharing sub-forums!

Hello astricii, Welcome to the forum!
Those are a couple of good close-ups, very nice color and composition. I agree with EM, a bit more DOF and a little 'pop' with the contrast and clarity sliders would help.
Where in Denver are you? I live in the Congress Park area, near the Botanical Gardens. There's a Metro Denver Photo Meetup group that does quite a bit of Macro, both at DBG and other venues. PM me if you want details,

Thanks for the warm welcome! I need to modify my Helios to be able to close it down past wide open. These were from my first time shooting with it which was pretty eye opening at how narrow the dof gets on these lenses. I do like how the lens gives off that painting kind of vibe though.

Oh yeah, I am in the uptown area off 17th st so not far from you guys. I'll have to contact you about the group
