Hello from Italy

Hello to everyone, I'm a new Pentax user from Italy.
I join this site to improve my knowledge of photography, in particular Pentax because I owned a K-01 last july.
I like very much to photograph herons and egrets, I found many of them in the contryside near my home, so I need more and more advices about tele-photo lenses.
I live in the province of Ferrara, a beautiful Renaissance's city, but my village is near the Adriatic sea.
I also like to photograph landscapes, but it's difficult for me to find some nice points of interest here, the scenery is just flat, no hills or mountains, only a few trees every now and then.
So, I hope to find here some ideas to improve my photograpy, both technical and compositional
I also have to improve my English, writing on this forum, please forgive the mistakes that I do or will
Greetings to you all from Raffaella

I'll do a deal with you, come to Scotland, bring the Italian weather with you and I'll provide the hills, mountains and trees in large quantities, how's that?

Welcome to the Forums. Your English is fine and I am sure you will have lots to contribute here. Plenty of people who take bird pics! Check out the lens reviews for ideas on telephoto lenses.

Thank you, I'll follow your advice!

With regards to the English, I help myself with the Google translator, as well as with school memories

Generally, the place where I live is known throughout Italy for the fog
And I like it ... Everyone I know tell me I'm crazy!

But I think that even here there is more sun than in Scotland ...

I'm sure your right, but I must admit some places like Glencoe actually look better to photograph when it's dreich (Scots for gloomy and drizzling rain).

In fact when the conditions are right i.e. bad, it makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up when you think of the massacre of 1692.

I know that in Scotland there are beautiful views or evocative, especially in bad weather ... But not thinking about the massacres!!
Also in Italy we have plenty of views; unfortunately, in the place where I live there is not much variety; perhaps in spring and summer, fields offer more ideas, i.e. poppies in wheat (years ago I made some nice pictures of that kind with my old Panasonic camera)

Aye that was a while ago now, not like last week or anything.

But you do have Venice just up the coast from you, which IMHO is one of the most photogenic cities in the world and one of my personal favourites.

As long as Italy do not self-destruct!
These days we are seeing disasters caused by bad weather, in the recent past we have witnessed disasters caused by carelessness or greed of our rulers (such as collapses at Pompeii or similar).
It 's sad to think that so much beauty (natural or man-made) is so misunderstood at home

Yes, Venice is beautiful, and not so far, however I prefer Ferrara, it's more relaxing for me

When I went to Venice, I always found too much people

Great discussion. There is a lot of beauty out there, and a lot of interesting things to see. With our cameras, we can capture it (or in my case try to capture it).

Do you see many Pentax cameras in Italia?
