Got a Pentax K1000 SE for Christmas

My daughter got it for me from the local Goodwill store and it appears to be in great physical condition and perfect working order. It came with the standard SMC M 50mm f2 lens. What's really cool is I already had an old Chinon CM-5 35mm camera that shares the Pentax K mount system. I hate to say the Chinon is old since I bought it brand new in 1987. lol Anyways Hello to the board.

Welcome, mltain. You got a classic. As you keep using it, you'll find where in the photographic field are your tastes (macro, wide-angle or telephoto). A few notes: to prevent that your lenses become obsolete, try getting Pentax FA, F or Takumar F lenses if thinking to add a Pentax autofocus 35mm SLR or DSLR in the future. Even if you'll stay with manual focus film, go for Pentax or Takumar lenses as (so far) they'll work with newer bodies. Enjoy!

Welcome aboard! You'll find other film shooters here as well - good to see there are still some left out there

Welcome to the forum, what a thoughtful caring daughter, but it could mean she wants something...

Mine do the socks and hanky thing at Christmas... every year, so how many hankies does one man need?

Thanks for the welcomes everybody! I'm not particularly new to photography, I have the old Chinon and I also have a Canon Rebel XS that takes pretty good digital pictures. But since it was a Christmas gift I thought I should give it a try and see if it worked and like I said it seems to work flawlessly. I have put one roll through it so far just need to get them developed. I'm really liking the stripped down controls!
