Hello. Expanding my Pentax horizons.

My first digital camera was my Pentax K-x. Still works great. Wanted to upgrade after the K-5 came out, but got tempted away by the Sony A77. Anyway... Still feeling the pull from Pentax and could not resist when I found a K20D for $280 that came with a grip, extra battery and under 3500 shutter actuations. The shutter sounds off to me though. The folks at my local shop where I got it said it sounds ok to them. When the shutter is going back up, there is kind of a chirp or squeak. Is that normal? I'm hoping so, since I am quite fond of the camera otherwise. I'm looking forward to adding to my collection of old primes and maybe adding a weather-proof lens or two. If you have a K20D, let me know what you think. Thanks.

Neither my K10 nor K5 ever squeaked. The shutters sound smooth and quiet. The K10 was much louder, though.

Welcome to the forums! Wouldn't think a K20d should squeak anywhere... Maybe ask on the General technical help board?

Thanks. Good to be here. I will post to General Technical. Seems upon closer exam to be the aperture lever as it snaps back after capture. Guessing it is the gearing. I searched YouTube and found a few videos that makes me think I might be too critical of the sound.

Welcome to the forum, none of mine ever squeaked, that was always me when I got the money shot in the can/bag.
