Hi from Sydney Australia

I am a ex Pentax MZ-55 35mm user who has decided to return to the fold. Have lost interest in point and click cameras, want to go my own photo setup. Am starting of with a good second hand K10D with Sigma lenses I used on the MZ-50. Will get used to the camera and then look around for better lenses. Am in the USA in May 2014 so will keep a lookout over there. First up thinking of buying a 18-55mm SMC DAL later followed by a 100-300mm ?.

Bye robyatse

Welcome to the forum.
Regarding your intension to get a 18-55 DAL, I do not think it will give you much improvement over your current Sigma lenses. Depending on your budget, you might want to investigate 16-45, or even new 34-2.4 and 50-1.8 primes.

Welcome to the forum! For covering the wide angle on digital a DAL 18-55 is not a bad idea, it'a rather decent if you stop down to f8

Welcome aboard. I'm out Penrith way and in the Henry Lawson Camera Club (Treasurer and Webmaster).

The 18-55 appears on eVilBay occasionally at good prices. I picked one up for $10 because it has the tiniest of chips in the front lens element. It has no affect on the pic.

An often underrated and therefore cheap lens is the F 35-70mm f3.5-4.5
