I have been wanting to take decent pictures for many years. The kids are grown and I have a little more time to indulge myself in things that I only could dream about. At this time I have not made the jump to Pentax, I have an Olympus E 420 and a Nikon P 510. The Olympus is dated and needs better lenses than the kit ones that I have. The P 510 works pretty good but I am not satisfied with what I can do with it. So I am looking at getting a Pentax K 50 to explore the hobby further. I have been lurking for sometime now and decided to say hello finally. I really enjoy this forum, very informative and encouraging about the Pentax product. I want to experience the thaw with a new toy and catch some nice spring nature pics. There is so much to learn and that is exciting- glad to be here.

Welcome to the forum, I have the K-30 which is similar and absolutely love it. My son has the Olympus E 520 which he like nbut he's never been able to afford any other lenses, since they kind of abandoned the 4/3 in favor of the M4/3. I'm friends on another forum (and this one) with another former Olympus user that bought a K-30 and then a K-5, and is now looking at the K-3. He was pretty happy with the switch. But of course any new cameras will seem really advanced from a "dated" camera.

So what part of Ohio are yoy from? I live in Elida, which is near Lima.

Elyria. I looked at buying a better lense for my Olympus but they are not cheap even though the e series 4/3rds has been abandoned. So why go that way I thought. I like the retro lense compatability and weather sealing features of Pentax. Thanks for the welcome.
