Hello from Texas!

Hello, all!

I am a (moderately) long-time lurker, and I finally decided that I had best actually sign up and start participating in some of the great discussions I have followed! I am a Canon shooter, but within the last half-year developed a serious infatuation with film-era Pentax SLRs (and Takumar glass), and have been having a ton of fun restoring and shooting with them. I am looking forward to throwing in my two cents on some of the lens reviews, as well as simply participating in a community of photographers, discussing what we love.

Just to give an idea...

I have an MV-1 (my mother's - it's what got me into this whole Pentax business), an ME, two K1000s, and an SP500. As far as lenses... well, I have five Taks, a few third-party K-mount lenses, and a couple of Pentax M's. Of course, this is in addition to a moderate amount of modern Canon gear, which I use with my 650D.

Yes, I live right next to a local flea market. It is a curse and a blessing.

Looking forward to it!

-Ian

Your most welcome here on one condition... you don't tell us of any nasty butchery performed on fine Pentax glass, to make them more Canon compatible.

I promise I won't! Don't worry - since I shoot film on Pentax, no chance of butchery here.

Aye but you do hear such tales about some "ne'er do well" Canon folk.

Fair, fair. It does help that I am currently shooting on crop. If I ever do get the FF bug I will have to be careful.

For anyone who was interested, I finally threw together a review (with samples) of the SMC Macro-Takumar 100mm F/4 M42 lens. More to come, eventually... Super-Multi-Coated MACRO-TAKUMAR 100mm F4 Macro Reviews - M42 Screwmount Telephoto Primes - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database
