Hello from North Wales

Hello everybody,

I got myself a K5 about 3 years ago and had not really had any issues so far. I am joining the forum because things are starting to go - well - strange sometimes.
More of that later.
I am using my K5 mainly with a Sigma 10-20 or a Falcon Fisheye because I am into panorama photography - all kind of panoramas but mainly the 360 x 180 type where you take lots of pictures and stitch them together.
These panoramas can than be viewed in a browser and you can 'look around' by using the mouse or on a tablet by simply moving it about.
This requires manual camera settings to work as expected and I am starting to have some issues there.

So thanks for having me and I hope somebody can help with my questions in the near future.

Attached are some examples of the panoramas each one consists of 10 fisheye shots or 13 10mm Sigma shots.

Welcome and hello from North Scotland, I was led to believe that less curvy lenses worked better when stitched together for Panos.

The stitching software (e.g. Hugin (free) or PTGui(commercial)) will remove the distortions. Some have lens databases build in or you can create your own so the panoramas contain no distortions.
Problem with a 'less curvy' lens is you need a lot of pictures. I started out with a Sony DSC-R1 and its 24mm and you need about 40-50 images for a full 360x180 panorama. And it is nearly impossible to do it hand held.
With a fisheye you can get away with under 10 - some full frame cameras can do it with 4 shots and they can be done handheld. Sure, the resolution is smaller but for normal web publishing 10000x5000 is generally enough.
