Hi, Im a new member in Cape Breton Nova Scotia. Im currently interested in finding a fast prime telephoto lens along the lines of a DA300, but would prefer a 400mm around f2.8.I have a K5. Im also wondering about lenses from other formats fitting on my K5.

The only 400 f/2.8 is this one: SMC Pentax-A* 400mm F2.8 ED [IF] Reviews - A Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database Quite hard to find and manual focus of course. There is an AF 400 f/5.6:SMC Pentax-FA* 400mm F5.6 ED [IF] Reviews - FA Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

By other 'formats' do you mean 645 and 6x7 or do you mean other manufacturers? There are adapters to K-mount from 645 and 6x7 but everything will be manual.

HI thanks the FA 400mm seems like the better choice for me.I believe anything in the 6x7 or645 would need adapters and be manual focus is that correct?

That's correct. In general, if you already own that glass it might be worth using an adapter but in my opinion it's not worth buying the glass for adapted use as there are other alternatives.

Welcome aboard! You might find the new teleconverter of interest, I'm looking forward to seeing a review of it with the DA300 myself...though it would blow my allowance for the year to buy both, I think.
